Ongoing changes in the racial and ethnic transformations in the country are tellingly manifested in Chicago suburbs. This presentation is part of an ongoing NSF funded research on social interactions among neighbors in the city of Yorkville, a suburb southeast of Chicago. The presentation traces shifts reflected in Census Data for 13 sites in the area near Chicago along with the city, the state, and the country. It highlights changes in racial and ethnic make ups, household compositions, language usage, nativity, age distribution, educational attainment, and geographical mobility among residents of the sixteen sites.
