Abstract

“Wonderlands” is a solo exhibition that focus on miraculous landscapes that existence in my homeland, China. Since I was born in China, I would like to create a series of painting about China because it helps me to make a connection with my homeland, and to let others know where I came from. The “Wonderlands” is a series that collected seven different places of miraculous landscape that existing in China. Those Wonderlands involves places that located it Guangzhou, Beijing, Yunnan, Sichuan, etc. They’re the top tourist attractions in China, some of them are listed on the World Heritage List, therefore; they were the places that I want to go and visit. Watercolor is the main medium for my paintings in this exhibition, then use other materials such as color pencils and ball pens for the detail drawing. The transparency of watercolor allows the light to come through the pigment and reflect from the white paper, giving a luminous quality and dreamy texture for the paintings. This presentation is a way to make connection between the audience and me to talk about my work on a deeper level. This will give me a chance to introduce my art in the public, it’s just what I need because I have lack of experience for introduce my work in the public. This is also a good opportunity to think about my work and how to talk about it in the public. Furthermore, this is a chance to know my audience’s comments and thoughts about my work. The presentation will be in a Power Point slide show format and it will have a minimum of 20 slides. The slides will includes all the information of my works, such as the medium, title and date. The time of my presentation will be around 10- 15 minutes. An artist talk give me an opportunity to interact with my audience and allows me to introduce my works. Although is not easy to have a talk in public, but what can be confirmed is that this artist talk will have great benefits for my future.
