Abstract

This creative project is meant to explore the ways in which we can make more environmentally friendly decisions with the products that we buy as consumers. I wanted to understand how we can reduce single-use plastics when buying and making products in order to promote more environmentally friendly methods. Users want to adopt more eco-conscious ways because they want to feel important and help the environment, however they want to uphold their values and style so they need companies to give them incentive to buy more eco-friendly products. False claims cause consumers to be wary or completely avoid buying products that are marketed to be more environmentally friendly. Users want to feel important, not feel guilty about their past choices. Therefore, using positive language and highlighting the positive effects of users buying a product, increases the chances of them buying it. DEEKO aims to be an eco-conscious brand whose purpose is also to promote eco conscious decisions in consumers. With the plastic pollution seemingly becoming worse, and with consumerism not being optional to many people, we have to find a way to combat the rising plastic pollution issue we see rising in our oceans and cities. DEEKO hopes to promote sustainability and inclusivity along with sending out an important message about our environment and the health of the Earth. The story of DEEKO is about three characters from an alternate Earth that has been completely destroyed by environmental damage, disasters, and global warming caused by humans. These characters decide to work together to warn other planets like theirs of the dangers and effects of human overconsumption.
