Abstract

My art primarily deals with atmosphere and how one's own emotions shapes how they see life on a day to day basis as well as emphasizing the female point of view. The connection between the audience and my work has been centerned in the idea of them seeing any place through my eyes. I want the feeling to be the main focus, the elephant in the room that could not be avoided anymore. For this series, I highlighted the core people in my life that affect me and therefore create my environment. Each oil painting is a representation of each individual’s relationship with me. This includes: Ma, Pa, ñaño, Eves, Steph, and Erick. Not only do I create pieces to praise the importance of them, but to also highlight how one's community influences you and shapes your overall attitude on life. The paintings are hung up in an enclosed space so that they can surround the viewer. The idea for the installation is to have the audience be able to see my people with my eyes and feel the special bond within my inner circle. These are my people; they have shaped me and influenced my life for the better. Nothing good is ever perfect, so while praising the important people in my life, I also want to acknowledge any hardships along the way to shed light on how raw and real these relationships are.
