Abstract

This research project has been focused on memorializing the lives of African Americans who have been killed by police violence. The history of racial injustice in the U.S. stems back and continues into the present. The statistics of these crimes in combination with the current state of the U.S. leaves a major impact. The focus of this project was to measure the amount of impact an online memorial can have with the public. After gathering research and reviewing literature, we have created an online questionnaire to measure this. Aside from this impact survey and community involvement I am working on spreading the organizational goal of Say Their Names by NonOpera: Open Opera Works. My presentation will be an overview of both my involvement with Say Their Names, the online memorial, and the impact it has had on myself and those around me.
