Abstract

Inspired by show cars and the drift scene, using Japanese and European cars as inspiration. Night Affair is a clothing brand that's curated to the ones working towards their dreams. To create a community that works in secret and shows what can be done while everyone’s asleep. Night Affair is a brand to stand out with the builds alongside it. Oftentimes drift cars are wrapped or painted in a bright obnoxious color to stand out from the black asphalt. My apparel will include a bright color aesthetic in print to pay tribute to the scene and give a homage to the drivers that work hard on their builds. For my project I want to explore car apparel design and give it a more designer brand take. Designing T-shirts and outerwear by mixing my background in screen printing, graphic design, and exploring embroidery. Using a minimal color palette with embroidery to pop or blend in with the color of the fabric gives pieces a more professional texture, instead of using vinyl or screen printing for the entire project. I'd also explore other objects or accessories that are often found in high end street brands such as stickers, mini rugs, and other textiles. I am researching other brands that produce similar quality products that I aim for. With the research I've also interviewed people in the car community and people who design clothing and brands to help round out the final designs of the products I'm creating. The final output of this project is to have two printed and embroidered shirt designs and a hoodie or crew neck, accessories such as keychains and stickers. Posters and vinyl works will be hung to display the community being represented. I will be displaying this collection as a mini pop up shop with a computer set up and the website queued for people to browse other products than what will be displayed in person.
