Abstract

I am attracted to artwork that is beautiful yet mysterious. I view beauty and mystery through nature, landscapes and abstract art work. Moreso, I enjoy beauty and the mystery of earthly elements such as sky and water. Both are beautifully created and make up the world in which we live. Similarly, their constant changing and uncertain end is a mystery to many. In my abstract paintings, I want to convey these same feelings of mysteriousness and beauty. I want to leave my viewer in admiration of the simplistic, yet mysteriousness of the work. Many would argue what beautiful artwork is. What makes “art” art, isn’t always necessarily the final product. I believe the creativity put into your work can also be successful. Throughout my semesters, I have come out of my comfort zone and decided to work primarily in abstract painting. I merely stuck with the use of acrylic paints and paint brushes. While I enjoyed the effects I was able to obtain with a paintbrush I wasn’t completely satisfied. I discovered using a hair dryer and drinking straws to blow the acrylic paint around my canvas, allowed for an invigorating effect. In this series, I attempt to create moments of energy, beauty and mystery.
