Abstract

REBRANDING OF GUANAJUATO Luis Anzo Department of Art and Design, Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago, IL 60625 Over the past few years, the state of Guanajuato in Mexico has been working on revitalizing its tourism industry through strategic rebranding initiatives. My process would involve using branding and brand identity to explore ways to reimagine Guanajuato's identity and position it as an attractive destination for travelers around the world. As someone with strong roots in Guanajuato, I believe that my cultural background and authentic vision can help with this process and the challenges and opportunities involved in the rebranding process. My research will examine topics such as the importance of cohesive visual identity, the power of storytelling, and the role of design in creating authentic brand identities. Through this research, I aim to provide insights and share strategies for creating authentic brand experiences that resonate with viewers, explore the need for simplicity and authenticity in branding elements, and the potential for further discussion of the role of culture in branding. Ultimately, the rebranding project aims to inspire creative thinking and attract awareness to Guanajuato in ways that resonate with people regardless of their familiarity with the region.
