Abstract

With a fascination for human behavior and interaction, I create oil paintings that explore genuine humanness. Familiar facial expressions and body language provide a kind of communication universal in nature, which helps us to understand each other without words. My exhibition “Only For a Second” focused on micro-moments of human life that are forgotten almost as soon as they happen. These moments are void of any pose or performance, and the individuals shown are, at that moment, only for themselves - when one’s humanness is in its rawest form. I started moving in this direction as a result of my interest in the way people behave when they believe no one is looking. I strive to show my affection for the subject matter, whether familiar or strange to me, by incorporating expressive brush strokes while staying true to the energy the subject matter provides on its own.
