Abstract
3DM Ivan Ocampo1 1 Art & Design Department, Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago, IL 60625 Growing up in a home affected by domestic abuse for 7 years, I witnessed the depths of human darkness. During those challenging times, music became my refuge. Music possesses the unique ability to evoke emotions, influence our mental well-being, and provide inspiration and motivation. I turned to music to escape my reality, find joy, alleviate stress, and persevere. Overall, this period of my life instilled in me a deep appreciation for spreading joy and kindness. Paired with my fascination with technology and virtual realms, I aspire to combine my passion for music and design to create an immersive virtual experience that ignites joy in users. I aim to reinterpret the essence of music through animated and expressive typography. I want to manipulate typography to visually represent the qualities of music, such as rhythm, tempo, lyrics, in order to amplify its emotional and psychological effects. Using 3D animation tools like Unity and Touch Designer, I invite others into the vivid world I envision when I get lost in music. Step into my house, where sound and design converge to redefine reality.
