Abstract

My artistic journey is rooted in the transformative power of clay, a medium that has shaped my creative expression since childhood, alongside the profound impact of childhood memories. My journey began at the age of seven during a family clay class with my mom. My mom’s cancer diagnosis infused our clay sessions with therapeutic significance. What started as a shared activity evolved into a form of art therapy and blossomed into a lifelong passion. As viewers take in this immersive landscape, they encounter a curated array of toys, knick-knacks, and artifacts that hold profound significance, triggering memories and emotions that resonate universally. Each piece is an embodiment of cherished moments, dreams, and memories Inspired by the innocence and wonder of childhood. From iconic toys like the View-Master and Nintendo DS to relics like a Toys R Us receipt and a disposable camera, each object serves as a portal to the past, inviting reflection on the passage of time and the enduring power of memory. Drawing upon my own recollections and imaginative interpretations, I glaze each piece to capture the essence of reality, infusing them with vibrant colors symbolic of life's happiest moments. Through this diverse array of ceramic creations, I aim to evoke feelings of nostalgia, happiness, and carefree joy, inviting viewers to reconnect with their own childhood experiences and milestones. While these objects reflect my personal journey, they also serve as paths for collective emotions and shared narratives. Through this exhibition, viewers are reminded of the fleeting beauty of childhood and the enduring connections forged through shared experiences. Each piece, crafted from stoneware clay and glazed with vibrant underglaze, stands as a testament to the significance of memories, moments, and dreams in shaping our past, present, and future creating the Story of My Life.
