Abstract

I’m a photographer interested in Chicago’s wildlife, specifically in the species of birds living in the city. My interest in this subject matter began when I took a nature walk in the mornings. During these walks I would listen to the sounds of the different birds and figure out where they were on the trees. I would try to figure out what type of bird they are based on their beautiful colors that they have. I have always found it interesting how these birds express themselves when they are in their habitats and how they get along with other birds that aren’t their predators. With these photographs of different birds found in Chicago, my photographs document habitats and convey the idea of not taking nature for granted. While walking through the forests or the Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary. I would listen to birds singing and look up at the trees to locate where they were at. When photographing the birds, I focus on which orientation is best and how close I should photograph to highlight the bird and its habitat that it is surrounded in. In order to show the type of bird it is and where in the forest or sanctuary it will be in. In lightroom classics, I can fix any lighting, colors, and contrast to make the birds look more like its natural color and the lighting from the outside.
