Abstract
Ekphrasis is defined as a vivid description of or response to a work of art. Of course, what makes a composition a piece of art is highly subjective. Therefore, ekphrastic writing can be in response to anything that is of interest to us. In this podium presentation of reading of creative works, we will examine how in-depth ekphrastic writing can be. The creative works were crafted in a course titled Ekphrastic Practice: Responding to Art In Inquiry-Based Creative Writing, led by Professor Olivia Cronk. This presentation will feature excerpts of several creative works crafted throughout the course, all of which were inspired by the ekphrastic works studied throughout the semester. Ultimately, this presentation will shine a light on a creative writing concept that may sound foreign to even the most experienced creative writers.
