Abstract

Visiting Mexico through the years has allowed me to experience traditions that I had never encountered. This experience inspired me to explore more about the Day of the Dead and its influence on fashion today. This exhibit invites viewers to experience Mexico’s Day of the Dead through content, vibrant colors, and traditional symbols. The installation features magazine cover posters and customized Barbie dolls that will show Mexican dress styles. The posters will showcase my developed skills in digital illustration, and my visual strategy will show cohesiveness through composition and color. In this project, I aim to communicate to an audience who might not know about the Day of the Dead but would want to learn more about it. This work is designed as a learning tool as well as a celebration that brings together different cultural identities to remember their loved ones and to honor the continuity of life.
