Description
Hanako Murata worked for the Rafu Shimpo prior to the war. Her husband sold the vegetable part of his grocery store and they began chicken farming with all their savings. Just when the baby chicks grew to lay eggs, they were forced into Poston War Relocation Center in Arizona. Her husband and daughter went into Poston in May 1942 but Hanako remained behind and gave birth to a son before joining her family in Poston. In camp she learned how to sew, work with wood and other materials to make jewelry, and use her artistic talents. This ring is carved from a peach pit.
