Description
Shizue was born in Kyushu, Japan. Her parents left for Hawaii when she was 2 years old. She was brought up by maternal grandmother. The family moved from Hawaii to state of Washington. She came to the States to join her family when she was 16. Friends told them about a Mr. Mizuno, she and her mother made a surprise visit to Mr. Mizuno. He offered them lunch, so she married him. She was 25 and Mr. Mizuno was 31; he had an International Harvester dealership. During confinement in the camp, she learned to sew and crochet. Topaz War Relocation Center, Utah
