Abstract

The research objective is to see what the prolific method therapists use after listening to a client who is experiencing a mental health crisis. The reason that understanding the effects of listening to a client who is experiencing a mental health crisis is important is because knowing how some therapists may react can create prevention training. Another objective would be, in the future, to see if there is a trend within the counseling field and be able to implement the expectation training into pre licensing education. The method that the data was collected for understanding the effects on the counselor was interviewing the consolers directly. The interviews were conducted via zoom and voice call. The interviews ranged between 45 minutes to an hour. The completed interviews are projected to show what the most prevalent crisis is, what the effects on the counselor after listening to said crisis, and a better understanding of how the counselor worked on the effects. In conclusion I believe that finding the overarching crisis a client may be having and how the crisis affected the counselor will be helpful to future counselors and active counselors to have a better understanding of what is or has already come.
