Abstract

This study examines the relationship between major corporations and prison labor in the United States. There are many studies on prison labor, but they mainly focus on the exploitative side only. Although it being exploitative is equally important and adds depth to my point, my focus will be how much of our economy relies on prison labor. My research will provide a direct and uniformed correlation between the big companies and corporations and how they rely on prison labor the most. This study will provide insight on corporate involvement and how big of an impact slave labor has on the US economy within major corporations. Throughout my paper I will examine various qualitative and quantitative research, case studies, and FOI (freedom of information Act) to provide a clear and concise map/ relationship between major corporations and prison labor.
