Abstract

THE DEVELOPMENT OF TIME & DESIGN Ethan Dawkins Department of Art and Design, Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago IL, 60625 In the process of my Senior Exhibition, I aim to create a coded timeline. Though it may appear as a website on the surface, the deeper narrative it conveys is that of my personal evolution within the Graphic Design program. In the beginning of my journey in the Graphic Design program to the present moment, I have witnessed a progression in the quality and depth of my work. My aim for the exhibition is to highlight my development, illustrating the evolution from my early forays into Graphic Design to my current state of practice. Through the coded timeline, visitors will be able to explore and appreciate the milestones, challenges, and growth that has shaped my creative journey. It serves not only as a showcase of my technical proficiency but also as a testament to the dedication and passion I have invested in honing my craft over time. Additionally, the cautiousness of my early designs to the refined precision of my current work, the timeline encapsulates the essence of my growth. It is a testament to the countless hours spent refining my skills, embracing challenges, and pushing the boundaries of conventional design. Furthermore, each node on the timeline represents a pivotal moment—a project, a breakthrough, a lesson learned—culminating in a tapestry of experiences that define my artistic identity. It is a celebration of resilience in the face of adversity, of innovation born from experimentation, and of the relentless pursuit of creative excellence. My Senior Exhibition becomes a living canvas, a testament to the continuous dialogue between passion and proficiency, innovation and tradition, and the ever-evolving language of Graphic Design. As the coded timeline unfolds, it invites the audience to join me in reflecting on the dynamic interplay of creativity and growth that defines my journey in Graphic Design. In this immersive experience, visitors traverse through a kaleidoscope of concepts, each brushstroke narrating a story of experimentation and refinement. My exhibition encapsulates the essence of my artistic evolution. It is a celebration of the symbiotic relationship between technique and inspiration, a testament to design in shaping perceptions and forging connections.
